Do you enjoy writing short stories? If so, you are invited to enter the Osceola Library System’s OsceoWriMo Writing Contest, creating unique, fascinating short stories using pre-selected writing prompts! Submissions will be shared with library users all over Osceola County – and beyond – in honor of National Novel Writing Month!

Submission Rules

Create your own short story using a pre-selected writing prompt in your genre of choice to create a short story for your chance to win a $25 gift card.

Select the genre of your choice. Three sub-topics have been included in each genre. If you will be submitting multiple entries, you may choose a different genre category for each short story you create.

Guidelines for eligible entries:

  • Each submission must be the creative and original work of the submitting author.
  • Any submission with more than one author listed will be considered a single entry and one prize will be awarded.
  • Multiple entries will be accepted.
  • Limit stories to 2,500 words or less.
  • Write your short story using our new platform, Pressbooks Public.
  • Submissions will be accepted through November 30, 2020.

Entries will be judged using a rubric scale covering the following areas: overall story, originality, and creativity by a panel of library staff.
